I Used these accountants for years... Never had am issue until I divorced my husband. ( business partner) instead of remaining impartial....they chose a side... And 12 months into the divorce I discovered my ex had infact set up another business, the same as ours and was utilising our clients and assets to profit it, while he tried to make it look like our existing partnership was still running but going into financial arears.( pheonix trading is the legal term) and Hall and Co were acting as his accountant for his new venture. Despite my repeated requests to dissolve the existing partnership my husband continued to delay the process for another 12 months...I emailed repeatedly for information and they declined to respond..eventually after raising a formal complaint they relunctantly confirmed this and assured me that no existing clients were used. This all, however was disproved when i received copies of my ex's financial statementsduring the final divorce proceedings. Professional behaviour?? I wrongly assumed that that they had a professional, if not moral, duty of care to inform me if my business partner was being underhanded, or that he should have refused to act on behalf of his new company until all the ' legal loose ends' had been dealt with on the existing partnership. It would appear not! I sought legal advice, they agreed, though the costs would outweigh any outcome in the long run, so I was advised not to take it further. They did however suggest using the rate and review to express my opinions on this company. So be warned!!!!! I certainly wouldn't recommend this company.
